event description

Alex joined 20VC in September 2024 and covers Central Eastern Europe for the fund. He previously spent 5 years in the venture arm of Eurazeo which is a €30bn+ publicly listed private equity fund. He invested in 20+ seed and series A companies all across Europe. He also runs the largest newsletter in Europe on vertical SaaS called Overlooked with 10k subscribers.

20VC builds the next great financial institution at the intersection of venture capital and media. They recently raised $400 million to launch their third fund to invest in Europe and the US from pre-seed to series B.

Before becoming one of Europe’s hottest funds, 20VC was a podcast launched by Harry Stebbings as a teenager. Since then they have conducted over 2,750 interviews with over 800 of the world’s best CEOs and Founders from OpenAI’s Sam Altman to Salesforce’s Marc Benioff, to Spotify’s Daniel Ek and LinkedIn’s Reid Hoffman.

After launching the fund, they have invested in companies including Poolside, Sorare, Tripledot, 11x, BeReal, Linktree, Nex Health, Merge API, Linear, Pachama, and many more.

During the fireside chat with Alex, we discussed their strategy of leveraging media (newsletter & podcast) to create an edge and build a differentiated venture firm. We also chatted about the state of European tech, how learnings from Western Europe and matured ecosystems may apply to emerging ecosystems and why they want to invest in CEE.
